Depression Therapy

IN-PERSON IN CALGARY & ONLINE ACROSS ALBERTA

Feel your energy, your interest, and your sense of yourself come back.

Depression can be loud, and it can also be almost invisible.

You are getting to work. You are answering the messages. You are making dinner and putting the kids to bed. Underneath all of it, you are running on empty, and the things that used to give you something back feel far away.

Maybe you are sleeping too much, or barely at all. Maybe you are tired in a way that rest does not touch, short with people you love, or flat in moments you know should feel good. Maybe this has been a few months. Maybe it has been years, and you only recently started calling it depression or wondering if there could be more to life.

You do not have to keep managing it on your own, and you do not have to be at your lowest point to deserve support.

What is depression, and how can counselling for depression help?

Depression is a persistent low mood that changes how you think, feel, and function. It affects your energy, your sleep, your appetite, your concentration, and your sense of what you are capable of. It can follow a loss, a burnout, a move, a birth, a health diagnosis, or a long stretch of stress you never got a break from.

It can also arrive without a clear reason, which makes it harder to explain to the people around you.

Depression also feeds itself. When your energy drops, you do less, and you may isolate. When you do less or see people less, you get less of what used to lift you. When that goes on long enough, your mind starts drawing conclusions about you instead of about the situation.

Counselling for depression interrupts that cycle. Your therapist will help you understand what may be keeping it going in your specific life, then build a plan paced for the energy you actually have right now, not the energy you wish you had. In practice that usually means small and concrete steps back toward what matters to you, real work on the thoughts that have gotten cruel, and a place to say the parts you have not said out loud yet.
