Accelerated Resolution Therapy

IN-PERSON IN CALGARY & ONLINE ACROSS ALBERTA

Compassionate and effective counselling for trauma.

How does ART work?

During a session, you recall the distressing memory while engaging in eye movements similar to those used in EMDR. Your therapist guides you through rescripting the distressing images into a less distressing version, while the facts of the event stay the same. ART works with the idea that the distressing images tied to a memory can be revised, sometimes called "rescripted," while the factual memory of what happened stays the same, which can reduce how intensely the memory triggers physical and emotional reactions.

What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)?

ART is a structured trauma therapy that combines eye movements with a technique called image rescripting, aimed at changing how a distressing memory is stored, without requiring a detailed verbal account of the event. It's recognized as evidence-based by Division 12, the Society of Clinical Psychology, of the American Psychological Association.
