You’re overwhelmed. You’re trying your best, but you’ve run out of ways to navigate the meltdowns, the eating challenges, the sleep difficulties. You feel exhausted, unsure if what you’re doing is helping — or if it’s just making things harder.
You love your child fiercely, but some days you wonder how to keep going without losing yourself. The advice from well-meaning friends and family doesn’t quite fit your unique situation. You want to support your child in the best way possible, but it feels like no one really understands what you’re facing.
Parenting a child with social, emotional, behavioural, or neurodivergent challenges isn’t something you have to figure out alone.
With compassionate, tailored support, you can find practical strategies to manage the tough moments, reduce stress, and build stronger connections with your child — without burning out.
You’re not alone. We’re here to help you through it.
Common Reasons Parents Seek Parenting Support Therapy
Frequent meltdowns or emotional outbursts that feel unmanageable or unpredictable
Struggles with sleep, eating, potty training or daily routines
Challenging behaviors like aggression, defiance, or withdrawal
Feeling disconnected from their child and unsure how to rebuild that bond
Raising a neurodivergent child (e.g., autism, ADHD) and needing tools that actually fit their child’s needs
Guilt or self-doubt about parenting choices or feeling like they’re “failing” their child
Conflict between parenting partners about discipline or what their child needs
Difficulty setting boundaries without feeling harsh or triggering bigger reactions
Burnout or emotional exhaustion from the constant demands of caregiving
Wanting to parent differently than how they were raised, but not knowing how
Feeling isolated and wishing someone truly understood what they’re going through
Managing their own anxiety or trauma, which affects how they show up as a parent

Frequently Asked Questions about Parenting Support Therapy

What is the difference between Family Therapy and Parenting Support Therapy?
Parenting support therapy focuses on you as a parent — helping you understand your child’s needs, build connection, manage challenging behaviours, and reflect on how your own experiences shape your parenting. Family therapy focuses on how your family interacts together.
Does my child have to be present for Parenting Support Therapy?
No — your child doesn’t need to attend parenting support sessions unless it’s relevant to the work we’re doing (such as supporting attunement, attachment, or parent-child interaction).
In fact, it’s often more helpful if your child isn’t present. This gives you the space to speak openly, reflect honestly, and explore challenges without worrying about how your child might be impacted by the conversation.
If we ever feel it would be useful to include them for a specific purpose, we’ll talk about it together.
When should I seek therapy for Parenting Support?
There's no "right" time to seek support. Some parents come to us when they're feeling overwhelmed and in crisis, while others are looking for proactive strategies to improve their parenting skills. If you're feeling stressed, frustrated, or simply unsure of how to handle a particular parenting challenge, therapy can be a valuable resource.
How do I know if my child's behaviour is "normal?"
It can be difficult to distinguish between typical childhood behaviors and something more serious. Our therapists are trained in child development and can help you understand what's age-appropriate and when it might be time to seek additional support.
